My mom came down to Houston to go wedding dress shopping with me the first week of June. I FINALLY found THE ONE, and we were on our way to go pick it up Friday, when my car stalled on Westheimer...during rush hour...ugh! I immediately drove it to the dealer, where I had to part with the Santa Fe...for an indefinite amount of time. This was quite inconvenient since Mom and I were supposed to hit the road on Saturday. She was starting a new job on Monday, and really wanted to have Sunday to just relax. So, with the help of D's frequent flyer miles, we got her back to Nebraska on Saturday.
My car was done at the doctor around 3 PM, so I loaded her up that afternoon/evening in the sweltering Houston heat. I started my trek back to "The Good Life" on Sunday morning. I ended up stopping at my grandparent's house in Kansas for the night, and drove the rest of the way on Monday. The ol' Santa Fe ran just fine the remainder of the trip....thank goodness!!

I just love seeing this sign on the KS-NE border.
I pretty much just relaxed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Took Bonnie (my canine sister) for walks, watched my nephew play some baseball, attempted the watch my niece play, but it got rained out, annnnnnd I helped my brother out by giving him a ride to the family biz.

My brother's rig...it is pretty amazing how easily he can drive this thing! I wouldn't even know where to start!
On Thursday I went to visit my very pregnant college roommate, Ashley (she has since had her perfect baby girl, Addison Sue). That afternoon the parentals and I headed for Omaha in a freaking downpour, it was seriously red on the radar most of the way. We stopped in Lincoln to eat at Olive Garden to celebrate 32 years of wedded bliss. Finally we made it to my high school friend, Lauren's, house, where we parted ways for who knows how long.

Never saw many thunderboomers in Houston!
Lauren took me to the airport Friday morning, where I began my 14 hour travel day. OMA-DEN-EWR-YYT...holy shenanigans! My poor Kindle decided to die right before the DEN-EWR leg of the trip...so I was frantically charging it while everyone else was boarding (I just had to keep reading 50 Shades of Grey). Oh...and the guy next to me smelled like stale cheeseburgers...alllllll 4 hoursssss...yuck!

Note to Self: Always fully charge your Kindle prior to a 14 hour travel day
D's flight was delayed, of course, but he made it there, and we settled into the Holiday Inn by 3:30 AM Newfoundland time (1.5 hours later than eastern, 2.5 hours later than central, 3.5 hours later than mountain, you get the point!)
So...we made it....stalled cars, torrential downpours, delays, and all....and I brought in the legal amount of wine (2 bottles) and some Jif peanut butter...which may or may not be almost gone... :)
